Pest Resources
Frederick Pest Control Resources
Use these service hubs to decide whether your property needs one-time treatment, preventive service, insect control, rodent exclusion, or a property-specific pest plan.
Start With The Pest Activity You Can See
Droppings, trails, nests, webs, bite marks, buzzing, scratching at night, or repeated sightings each point to different service decisions. Droppings near a wall void with gnaw marks point toward rodent exclusion work. A line of small ants trailing from an exterior wall into a kitchen points toward ant control with exterior baiting. An aerial paper nest under a deck overhang points toward wasp nest removal timed for dusk. We help you sort the active issue from the source conditions behind it.
Common Frederick Pest Identification Guide
Rodent Signs
Mouse droppings — small, dark, rod-shaped, scattered along walls and behind appliances. Rat burrows — smooth-edged tunnels along foundation walls, 2-3 inches in diameter. Gnaw marks — on wood, wiring, or food packaging. Rub marks — dark grease smears along regularly traveled routes.
Insect Signs
Carpenter ant frass — coarse sawdust-like material below wood members. Cockroach egg cases (oothecae) — brown capsules behind appliances or in cabinet hinges. Stink bug aggregations — clusters on south-facing walls September through October. Carpenter bee holes — perfectly round 1/2 inch bores in exposed wood.
Stinging Insect Signs
Yellow jacket ground nests — flight activity near ground-level openings in mulch or lawn. Bald-faced hornet nests — large grey paper nests in shrubs or tree branches. Paper wasp nests — open-comb umbrella nests under eaves, railings, or deck surfaces. Mud dauber tubes — clay tubes on siding or under overhangs (solitary, less aggressive).
Service Decision Guide
General Pest Control
Start here if you have multiple pest types, want a preventive program, or need a one-time treatment before a sale, move, or seasonal pressure spike.
Insect Control
Start here for ants, spiders, cockroaches, fleas, ticks, or stink bugs — especially if activity is concentrated in a specific room or entry zone.
Rodent & Entry Control
Start here if you are hearing scratching, finding droppings, or have confirmed rodent entry. Exclusion work is usually required alongside trapping or bait for lasting control.
Stinging & Seasonal Pests
Start here for active wasp or hornet nests, mosquito pressure, carpenter bee damage, or seasonal boxelder bug or stink bug infiltration.
Property-Specific Plans
Start here for rental properties, restaurants, HOA communities, new construction, or real estate transactions that require documented pest inspection.
